CLASSIC (6 v 6)
The game is meant to simulate a real soccer game.
Team Roster: Each team starts with 6 players (5 field players and 1 goalkeeper)
Formations: Each teams players must start on their side of the field. Each team can lineup in any formation, but they must have at least 2 attackers and 2 defenders. Only 1 player is allowed in the 6 yard box the entire game (this player piece is the goal keeper). The opposing team's attackers are also not allowed to enter the 6 yard box.
Turns: Each turn, a coach can either move a player piece or flick a shot from where one of their player pieces is located on the board.
- Movement: Players can only move in straight lines and cannot hop other players or curve around players. You also cannot move a player into an offside position (where your player piece is behind the last defender of the opposing team).
- Shooting: To shoot, flick the soccer ball with 1 finger. You can shoot from anywhere on the field.
- Missed Shot: If a coach misses a shot, they must return the player piece to the spot they were and the turn ends.
- Goal Scored: If a goal is scored, the game restarts in a kickoff and each team resets in any formation. Each goal is worth 1 point. After each goal, each team resets their formation.
Game Length: Each game is two 5 minute halves. Set a timer for 5 minutes to signify halftime and at halftime set another time for 5 minutes to signify the end of the game.
Stoppage Time: At the end of each half, each coach gets 1 additional shot, which symbolizes "stoppage time".
Illegal Touching: Coaches are not allowed to touch the other team's players. 1st time is a warning. 2nd time is a yellow card. 3rd time is a red card and results in a player being removed from the field for the rest of the game. The team receiving the red card chooses who to remove from the field.
Start Game: Flip a coin. Winner of the coin flip can decide to take the first half kickoff or 2nd half kickoff.
Game End: The player with the most points at the end of the 2nd half stoppage time wins. If there is a tie, the game moves to a Penalty Kick Shootout. (See Penalty Kick Shootout for additional rules.)
